Times continue to be difficult for everyone but maybe there is some hope that things will eventually return to 'normal'.
As an ensemble we are continuing to develop our programmes, freshening up the Georgian presentation with new repertoire.
We know how challenging things are for our many friends and colleagues who are steering professional venues, music clubs and societies through the crisis and we wish them all well.
We look forward to resuming our concert-giving activities when the time is right - never have we had so much 'availability'! - and welcome any enquiries, no matter how tentative.
With very best wishes to everyone.
Peter Harrison, director Concert Royal, September 2020
Founded by flautist Peter Harrison and historic keyboard specialist John Treherne, Concert Royal’s musicians have given concerts together for over forty years. Playing period instruments and performing in historically-informed style, Peter, John and ’cellist Rachel Gray recreate the elegant sound worlds of the baroque and classical eras.
The York-based ensemble has given hundreds of recitals in every corner of the UK, performing extensively for The National Trust, in festivals and for music and arts societies, in churches, schools and arts centres. Concert Royal has toured in Europe, the USA and for the British Council in South America.
Concert Royal supports the work of The National Centre for Early Music in York.
